Colonial First State Global Asset Management chief executive Mark Lazberger has been appointed to the Employer Advisory Board of CFA Sydney.

The CFA Society of Sydney (CFA Sydney) has appointed Colonial First State Global Asset Management chief executive Mark Lazberger to its Employer Advisory Board (the board).

Lazberger recently returned to Australia after a series of high-profile international appointments including president, international, and executive vice president of State Street Global Advisors (SSGA).

Prior to joining State Street, Lazberger held positions at the State Authorities Superannuation Board, Citibank, and the CRA group.

Lazberger was also instrumental in establishing CFA Sydney in 1996 and served as its inaugural president.

"We are very pleased to announce that Mark has accepted the appointment to the CFA Sydney Employer Advisory Board." CFA Sydney president Olivia Engel said.

"Mark's level of expertise and experience in the investment industry, combined with his longstanding association with CFA Institute and the local society, will make him a great asset to the board."

The board provides an employer perspective on issues facing the profession in Sydney and offers strategic direction, guidance, mentoring and leadership to CFA Sydney directors.

"The charter opened many doors for me personally, and working with the CFA Sydney Employer Advisory Board will allow me to share and develop others' experiences in similar ways," Lazberger said.

A number of industry leaders, including Alliance Bernstein chairman Michael Bargholz and ARIA chief executive officer Lochiel Crafter, currently serve on the board.
