AustralianSuper has created a new general manager position to focus on the recruitment and development of staff.

AustralianSuper has appointed Margie Hill to the newly-created position of people and culture general manager.

Reporting to AustralianSuper chief executive Ian Silk, Hill will be responsible for aligning the fund's human resources policies and practices to business strategy at both a strategic and operational level.

The role was created to continue the fund's focus on recruiting and developing staff and championing its corporate culture and values within the organisation, an AustralianSuper spokesperson said.

Prior to her appointment, Hill was a senior consultant at international search group Jo Fisher Executive and before that she spent nearly three years at TRUenergy as director of human resources.

She has had responsibility across the broad human resources spectrum with a strong background in talent development.

"This is an area we are keen to focus on," the AustralianSuper spokesperson said.
