MLC has appointed Lonsec as the primary research provider to its ThreeSixty research division.

MLC, the wealth management division of National Australia Bank, has appointed Lonsec as the primary research provider to its ThreeSixty research division.

Lonsec will research managed funds as well as structured products, unlisted property and infrastructure.

MLC Advice Solutions general manager Greg Miller said Lonsec's depth and breadth of managed funds coverage and the regularity of its asset class reviews were key reasons for signing it up.

There will be no change to ThreeSixty's in-house research team as a result of the Lonsec appointment.

Lisa Boyce will continue as head of ThreeSixty Research and oversee a team of eight research specialists.

"During the past six months we have looked at how we could best evolve our in-source-outsource model, redefining our internal research processes and better leveraging the external research available in the market," Miller said.

"Our model is based on leveraging research which is readily available from other providers such as Lonsec and focusing our in-house research efforts on specialised research services, such as portfolio construction and investment communications."

MLC appointed research house Aegis 18 months ago to provide research on listed securities.
