The $25 billion industry fund adds to its marketing team but loses long-serving staff member Alison McIvor.

AustralianSuper's general manager of marketing and communications Alison McIvor has resigned after 10 years with the organisation.

At the same time, the fund has hired two people to its marketing and communications team. The new appointments, however, are unrelated to the McIvor's departure.

Hilary Spear will manage communications on behalf of the fund and Brook Carter will oversee marketing for the business.

Spear previously worked as marketing manager at Vanguard while Carter has worked for global fund manger Fidelity and self-managed superannuation specialists, The Super Group.

It is understood that McIvor will be travelling overseas before deciding upon a job offer.

"We are extremely disappointed that Alison is leaving the fund. Alison has accomplished great achievements during her 10 years with the fund," AustralianSuper chief executive Ian Silk said.

McIvor assisted in the re-branding of the fund when Australian Retirement Fund merged with the Superannuation Trust of Australia in February 2006.

The merged group re-branded as AustralianSuper in May 2006.

McIvor was also responsible for launching a number of pension products developed by the fund.
