Legg Mason adds to its business development team as the firm intensifies its focus on the platform market.

Asset manager Legg Mason has hired Lia Gunawan as a business development manager.

In the job, Gunawan will target the platform market and will promote the firm's products and affiliate asset managers.

Her role will be based in Sydney, however, she will support dealer groups across Australia.

Gunawan previously worked at property group Becton. She has also worked for BT Financial Group, Aviva and ABN Amro.

"We recognise the importance of the platform market to the long-term success of Legg Mason's affiliate-based asset management model. Lia's appointment enhances our commitment to this critical market segment," Legg Mason business head Annalisa Clark said.
