Pillar embarks on tech upgrade

Superannuation administrator Pillar is aiming to upgrade its technology as it positions the business for growth.

Pillar Administration has invested in new software in a bid to strengthen its business processes and add more clients.

"We are looking at investing in new technology that will give us the productivity improvements and greater capacity to add more clients," Pillar Administration chief operating officer Grant Sandstrom said.

The firm currently administers superannuation accounts for 1.8 million members.

"Our technology upgrade will also assist us in ensuring that our members receive the right information as well as improve our compliance," Sandstrom said.

As part of the upgrade the firm has selected Thunderhead technology, which would provide better processes and greater consistency across the organisation, Sandstrom said.

"Over time we will be integrating three different software programs currently used by our organisation into the Thunderhead technology. Our aim now is to start utilising our technology in a better way," he said.

Despite the New South Wales government's proposed sell-off of the firm, it is still business as usual for Pillar Administration.

"At this stage the sale is still under consideration. For now it is business as usual and we still aim to grow the business," Sandstrom said.
