The industry fund hires former AMP Capital company secretary for the role of audit and compliance manager.

Club Plus has hired Phil Grindley as an audit and compliance manager.

Grindley had previously provided external advice to the fund but has now been appointed as a permanent member of staff.

"With the added compliance burden we felt that the fund needed internal expertise in audit and compliance," a Club Plus spokesperson said.

Grindley began his career with accounting firms, including PricewaterhouseCoopers.

In 2003 he joined the Stevedoring Employees Retirement Fund. He worked for the fund for three years, before taking on a role with AMP Capital Investors as company secretary.

"My experience with AMP Capital gave me experience in the funds management business. My heart, however, has always been with the industry fund movement," Grindley said.

"When the opportunity came up with Club Plus, I jumped at the chance to get back into the industry."

Grindley is currently studying a postgraduate degree in law at the University of Technology.
