Former Alpha chief moves to Invesco

The former head of Alpha Investment Management has returned to Invesco following the collapse of the boutique firm.

Invesco has hired Victor de Lorenzo as an investment manager to its Australian smaller company equities team.

De Lorenzo has 22 years' experience in investment management, including a brief period working for Invesco.

Most recently he worked at boutique firm Alpha Investment Management as a managing director where he was responsible for managing the firm's value fund.

In May, about $345 million was redeemed by its client, AustralianSuper, following an overhaul of the industry fund's portfolio, which in part resulted in the closure of the firm.

De Lorenzo will report to Invesco smaller company equities head Cynthia Jenkins.

"The fact that he and Cynthia have previously worked together and have complementary skill sets will help Victor transition into the team seamlessly," Invesco chief executive Mick O'Brien said.
