A new deputy chair has been announced for the FPA with board members Matheson, Biti and Haintz also announcing their plans to leave the board in November.

FPA deputy chair Mark Spiers has stepped down from this role.

In addition, board members Julie Matheson, Louise Biti and David Haintz will end their term with the association at the annual general meeting in November.

The departures were as a result of a three-year rotational term for each of the board members which has now subsequently ended.

Adelaide-based Hood Sweeney's managing director Matthew Rowe will replace Spiers.

Rowe has worked on the development of the FPA's Code of Professional Conduct and has chaired a number of FPA committees.

"The board and management look forward to working with Matthew in raising the bar for FPA members," FPA chair Julie Berry said.

Spiers has worked on a number of boards within the FPA, including as chair of the legislation and regulation board committee and as a member of the board strategy and remuneration and succession planning committees.

He currently heads the advice business for BT Financial Group.

"It has been a pleasure working with Mark and we are very appreciative of his longstanding contribution. I know he will remain an engaged and active FPA member," Berry said.

Matrix Planning Solutions founder Rob Pedersen has been appointed as the FPA board director on the charitable foundation Future2.

Pedersen takes over from David Haintz.
