The investment manager has hired a former UBS Asset Management staffer to head its investment grade division.

QIC has hired Philip Miall as head of investment grade credit for its global fixed interest boutique.

Miall previously worked at UBS Asset Management. He worked for the company for almost three years, specialising in credit.

In his job with QIC, Miall will be involved in investment grade credit research and the development of credit strategies for QIC's client portfolios.

"Philip has a very strong background in fundamental credit research and portfolio management and has demonstrated his ability to form high conviction strategies," QIC managing director of the global fixed interest team Susan Buckley said.

QIC's global fixed interest boutique includes 20 investment professionals and manages portfolios for 50 Australian and international clients.
