LGS has staffed up its risk management and sustainability teams as it finalises the sale of FuturePlus.

Local Government Super (LGS) has hired two managers to its team.

The fund has hired Hannah Deukmejian as a risk manager and Bill Hartnett as a sustainability manager.

Deukmejian's previous job was as a risk manager with the Commonwealth Bank. Hartnett previously worked at research firm Innovest Strategic Value Advisors as the managing director for the Asia Pacific region.

"LGS is committed to ensuring its risk management policies are strong so that our members are protected," LGS chief executive Peter Lambert said.

The job of sustainability manager was previously shared by Lambert and LGS Super chief investment officer Craig Trumbull.

"Having Bill on board means we now have a dedicated resource to sustainability issues in our portfolio," Lambert said.

Lambert said that the firm will soon finalise its service level agreement with FuturePlus.

In July, LGS announced it would sell its stake in FuturePlus to Energy Industries Superannuation Scheme (EISS).

"Once the agreement is finalised we will be able to recruit staff. We wanted FuturePlus to have the option of looking at what opportunities were available to them," Lambert said.

"I do hope to finalise the hiring of people by the end of October. There will be about 30 people involved."
