Government superannuation fund Westscheme has invested US$9.3 million in a collateralised debt obligation and $18.4 million in commercial technology trusts

Government superannuation fund Westscheme has invested US$9.3 million in a collateralised debt obligation (CDO) and $18.4 million in commercial technology trusts.

"Our investments in CDOs are part of the fund's approach to diversify the portfolio," Westscheme chief executive Howard Rosario said.

The fund committed $8.9 million to the Stone Ridge Ventures Murdoch Westscheme Enterprise Partnership (SRV MWEP) Trust and $9.5 million to the Stone Ridge Ventures (SRV) Tech Trust.

The SRV MWEP Trust is a joint venture between Westscheme and Murdoch University.

Westscheme is the co-investor in the SRV Tech Trust, which is managed by Stone Ridge Ventures.

Both trusts are used to commercialise research.
