Mercer Global Investments (MGI) has poached Phil Graham from rival Access Economics.

Graham will work as a senior portfolio strategist for MGI's Australian investment team.

He joins MGI after more than six years at Access Economics, where he was most recently head of manager selection.

Graham, who starts this month, will report to Australia and New Zealand chief investment officer Russell Clarke. His responsibilities will include asset allocation strategy and investment manager selection.

"Phil brings a unique blend of skills and industry experience to the multi-manager team," Clarke said.

Graham has also worked in senior positions at QIC, ANZ Securities, ANZ Banking Group and Reserve Bank of Australia.

He is also a board member of the CFA Society of Melbourne.

The MGI investment team includes 16 members globally. The Australian division includes four members, three of which have been former heads of manager research.
