Colonial First State Global Asset Management has raised $201.3 million for its media copyright fund, FS Media Works.

Investors in the fund include North American institutional investors, private wealth managers and Commonwealth Bank of Australia.

Music copyright assets were attractive for investors because they generated steady global income streams and had a low correlation to market activity and other assets, First State Media Group managing director Steve McMellon.

"The long term of protection afforded to copyright works provides investors with an ideal match for their long-term liabilities," McMellon said.

The fund includes over 26,000 works from the rock, country, pop and alternative genres.

It includes works such as "Disco Inferno", "Somebody to Love" and "Monster Mash".
