BT's new multi-manager team consists largely of former Advance managers.

Felix Stephen will lead the investment strategy of BT Investment Solutions, the merged multi-manager businesses of BT Financial and St George.

He has been appointed as manager strategy and research of BT Investment Solutions and will drive the division's top-down approach, looking at macro, socioeconomic and geopolitical factors.

Stephen previously worked at Advance Asset Management as a senior strategist. He will be supported by five portfolio managers.

Dustin Adams is in charge of Australian equities, Mark Vrkic looks after international equities, Andrew Dowie is responsible for fixed interest and Dimitra Voutas manages the property portfolio.

Chris Thompson has been appointed as portfolio manager of alternative assets.

The new team consists largely of former Advance Asset Management's Investment Solutions managers, with the exception of Thompson who was an investment analyst with BT Financial Group.

"A rigorous review of the St George Investment Solutions and BT Investment Solutions process and structure was completed to ensure the combined business retained and leveraged the teams' existing strengths," BT Investment Solutions head Patrick Farrell said.

Farrell, whose appointment was announced in December, also came from Advance's Investment Solutions where he was the general manager.

Other appointments include Sidney Chong, who will join the team as quantitative research manager, and Adrian Trollor who was appointed as investment sustainability manager. They were both previously part of BT's multi-manager team.

No staff has been made redundant as a result of the merger of the two multi-manager businesses, a BT spokesperson said.
