Former HFA manager joins Clime

Clime brings in Darren Katz as head of distribution.

Listed investment firm Clime Investment Management has appointed Darren Katz as head of distribution, as it prepares to bring its flagship fund to the retail market.

Katz comes from Swiss alternative investment provider Infiniti Capital, where he was country head Australia.

Prior to joining Infiniti mid-last year, Katz was HFA Asset Management senior manager of investments.

Katz joined Clime on the instigation of Clime managing director Paul Jensen, who briefly served as HFA's chief executive in 2007.

 
 

He replaced Alastair Thomson, also a former HFA staffer, who has returned to New Zealand for personal reasons.

Thomson was also general manager of Clime's research business StockVal, and this role has been filled by Clime finance director Richard Proctor.

Clime has also appointed Leisa Cureton as client services executive, who joined the firm three weeks ago.

The new appointments were partly made to deal with the planned expansion of the company, Jensen said,

"Next financial year, we want to bring the Clime Value Growth Fund to the retail market."

Clime will then approach research houses for a rating of the flagship fund and also start discussions with platforms.
