BT Wrap shortens disclosure documents

BT Wrap cuts down platform disclosure documents.

BT Wrap has introduced shortened versions of its disclosure documents for investors on its platform.

The company spent six months with its advisers, asking them what their clients would look for in such a document, and created a 20-page investor guide that explains the basic functions of the system.

"Our research showed investors just don't engage with bulky, 70-plus page disclosure documents and want clear and simple language," BT Wrap head Chris Freeman said.

"Similarly, advisers want to be able to better communicate with their clients about platforms and the service they provide."

The guide is accompanied by graphics and diagrams that help explain how the system works, while it also provides information that shows what clients can expect regarding fees and services.

The guide includes an investor short guide and a CD-ROM containing additional information and terms.

"In the case of our new investor guide, we have transitioned from a traditional lengthy disclosure document to a tool advisers can use to ensure new wrap investors have all the information they need to make a decision to invest," Freeman said.
