Towers Watson has made four new appointments in its Australian investment team.

Global consultancy firm Towers Watson has appointed former Mercer consultant Paul Newfield as senior investment consultant in the Australian investment team.

At Mercer, Newfield led the New Zealand retirement and actuarial consulting business.

He has also led Mercer's actuarial retirement service centre in Melbourne and chaired the trustee board, which had fiduciary responsibility for KiwiSaver, New Zealand's voluntary superannuation scheme, and the wholesale funds management business.

Towers Watson also appointed three analysts to the team.

"This expansion is in line with our plan to achieve a measured pace of growth for our investment business in Australia, while giving our clients access to a pipeline of compelling ideas and investment opportunities," Towers Watson investment services director Graeme Miller said.

Euna Kim joins the firm as an investment analyst. Kim comes from Yellow Brick Road Wealth Management, where she focused on due diligence, capital raisings, private placements and stock research.

She also had a stint with CommSec as a client service manager involved in margin lending and as a campaign manager for product launches.

Danny King has been appointed as an investment analyst in the portfolio construction group.

King will be primarily responsible for infrastructure, private equity and unlisted property research.

He previously worked as an investment analyst at Sovereign Investment Research.

Chris Schodde joins as a graduate investment analyst, assisting the team with a variety of client consulting work.

The appointments follow four new recruits to the Australian team last year.

"We are continuing to hire and currently have two analyst positions open," Miller said.
