CFS advice general manager Paul Barrett will move to ANZ in April.

Former Colonial First State (CFS) advice general manager Paul Barrett has been appointed to the newly-created position of ANZ advice and distribution general manager.

Barrett will move to ANZ in April and will report to ANZ wealth managing director John Van Der Wielen.

He will be responsible for all ANZ's financial planner and advice distribution networks, including aligned dealer groups, open market dealer groups and other alternative channels.

"We plan to aggressively grow our wealth business in Australia so it's pleasing to appoint somebody of Paul's calibre to lead advice and distribution," Van Der Wielen said.

"Paul's experience in developing new distribution channels as well as supporting and driving significant cultural change will be a valuable asset to ANZ."

A CFS spokesperson said a replacement for Barrett would be announced in a few weeks.
