Acadian has confirmed Andrew Hair as its new chief executive.

Acadian Asset Management Australia has appointed Andrew Hair as chief executive.

Hair had been acting chief executive of the firm, after Chris Clayton left for MLC last month to become head of asset management sales.

Hair initially joined as vice president client and consultant relationships in March 2007, and has been responsible for leading the institutional client service, sales and consultant relationship efforts.

"Andrew has delivered stability, guidance and expertise and under his stewardship. Acadian Australia will continue to be a soundly managed and well-performing business," Acadian Australia chairman Bruce Bonyhady said.

"We believe Acadian Australia is extremely well-placed to continue delivering leading quantitative investment funds to the Australian market and grow under Andrew's guidance," he said.

Prior to joining Acadian in 2007, Hair was a senior business development manager at MLC Implemented Consulting and spent seven years as an asset consultant for Mercer Investment Consulting in London.

Acadian Australia is a joint venture funds management company, equally owned by Colonial First State and Boston-based Acadian Asset Management.
