Former AllianceBernstein senior portfolio manager James Crawford has joined the ranks of Wellington Management.

Wellington Management has appointed James Crawford as investment director to its Sydney office.

Crawford previously worked at AllianceBernstein , where he was a senior portfolio manager.

There, he was responsible for the Bernstein Value Equities strategy.

Crawford left AllianceBernstein in April this year, after more than six years with the company.

AllianceBernstein has been scaling down its operations in Australia, after the joint venture between the company and Axa Asia-Pacific came to an end following the acquisition of Axa-Asia Pacific by AMP Group.

Crawford has also worked as head of strategy at IAG Asset Management and as an asset consultant principal at Towers Perrin (now Towers Watson).

Wellington established its Sydney office in 1997. Globally, the firm manages more than US$ 700 billion in assets.
