Media Super provides alternative loan facility

Media Super has made an alternative investment to finance a new local film production.

Media Super has provided a multi-million-dollar revolving loan facility to Fulcrum Media Finance for the financing of the feature film Not Suitable for Children.

The facility is part of Media Super's Alpha Opportunities alternatives portfolio.

"Through our landmark investment arrangement with Fulcrum Media Finance, the fund provides a multi-million-dollar revolving loan facility that provides debt finance during the production stage for a range of domestic film and television productions," Media Super chief executive Ross Martin said.

"Media Super has been progressively investing in high-quality productions, helping develop one of our core industries."

 
 

The fund has made similar facilities available to recent productions, including The Hunter, starring Sam Neill and Willem Dafoe, Wish You Were Here, starring Joel Edgerton, and the highly successful Miss Fishers Murder Mysteries series.

Those investments had provided attractive returns to members, Martin said.

"Media Super members have earned a competitive return from this unique portfolio and the assistance from our industry partners has been invaluable for the scoping and due diligence required for this kind of alternative investment," he said.

Not Suitable for Children opens in cinemas today (12 July).
