State Super opens regional office

State Super Financial Services (SSFS) has opened a new office in Woden, in Canberra’s south, which it says will give locals greater access to specialists in public sector financial advice.

Opening the office earlier this week, SSFS managing director Michael Monaghan said that while the Braddon office in Canberra’s north had been open for a decade, the expansion increased the group’s commitment to the Australian public service and extended its capacity to serve new clients.

“Our aim is to share our expertise in advice for defined benefit scheme members, supporting our members through the decision-making process during events such as retirement or redundancy and maximising their entitlements,” he said.

SSFS has increased its staffing numbers from 21 to 32 in Canberra, many of whom are locals, he added.

“We remain committed to expanding our network of offices throughout Australia as part of our goal to ensure people in local communities have access to specialised financial advice,” Mr Monaghan said.

SSFS regional manager Judy Brown will oversee the operations of the new office, which she said reflects the importance that SSFS places on “providing accessible and quality financial planning advice to current and former defined benefit scheme members.”
