AMP Capital wins $175m equity mandate

AMP Capital has secured a $175 million concentrated equities mandate from Nikko Asset Management Australia.

AMP Capital co-head of Australian fundamental equities Gian Pandit – who will manage the mandate – said securing the mandate is an “endorsement” for its active management capability and “multi-dimensional approach to research”.

“The portfolio is actively managed under an unconstrained framework to take advantage of all market opportunities as they arise, based on the highest conviction ideas of the team,” Mr Pandit said.

He added that the funds awarded by Nikko form part of Nikko's broader multi-manager and portfolio solutions business.

 
 

“Our distinct approach to delivering alpha generation and capital preservation is something our clients and advisers have found adds value to their overall portfolio structures,” Mr Pandit said.

AMP Capital said its fundamental equities team has more than doubled its funds under management during the last three years, from $3.2 billion in 2011 to $6.8 billion currently.
