Investec Australia has bolstered its senior team with two new hires, one each to its corporate advisory team and its new financial sponsors transaction group team.

Former head of mergers and acquisitions and capital markets at KPMG, Chris Stefanovski, has been appointed as managing director in the corporate advisory team.

Mr Stefanovski will advise clients on M&A, debt and equity financing, and the development of corporate strategy, working alongside Ben Smith who heads up the team, a statement from the firm said.

Investec has also confirmed that former senior investment banker at Barclays in Australia, Uyi Ighodaro, will lead its new financial sponsors transaction group team.

Mr Ighodaro will focus on the origination of transactions involving private equity firms active in Australia across advisory, financing and hedging, the statement said.

Investec Australia chief executive Milton Samios said the appointments reinforced the focus and commitment of the Australian business.

“Investec’s advisory capabilities are an important part of our Australian offering and it is great to attract the calibre of talent and expertise that Chris and Uyi will bring to the business,” he said.

“Their appointments reflect our long-standing commitment to deliver bespoke finance and advisory solutions to emerging growth and innovative mid-cap companies.”
