In his new role, Mr Whittaker will support IML senior portfolio manager for mid and small caps, Simon Conn. He moves to the firm from Milford Asset Management, having worked in Australian equities for six years. Previously, he worked as a senior industrials analyst at Lazard Asset Management.
IML investment director Anton Tagliaferro said the business is “very pleased to have appointed someone of Marc’s calibre” to the role.
“Marc comes to IML with a strong numerate background and excellent portfolio management and research skills from his many years’ experience working at other respected value managers – this makes Marc well suited to a career at IML and Simon is delighted to have Marc assisting him in the small cap sector,” Mr Tagliaferro said.
The appointment marks significant growth within the company, he said, adding that the small cap sector in particular is “experiencing good growth thanks to continued retail inflows”.
“This senior appointment is another important step in broadening and deepening the strength and experience of IML’s investment team,” he said.
