Funds SA chief executive Jo Townsend said the new role would support the company’s investment strategy in to the future.
“The appointment of chief investment officer to lead the existing strong investment team is pivotal in continuing to evolve the investment strategy of the organisation,” she said.
Mr Friend has held a number of senior roles in his 20 years working within the superannuation industry, working at companies such as Australian Super, Equipsuper, and Warakirri Asset Management.
“Richard brings a broad range of experiences across many aspects of investment management, and I am delighted that he has accepted the role,” Ms Townsend said.
Mr Friend will commence as the company’s chief investment officer on 5 December 2016.
