Institutional broker BTIG Australia has added a trader to its Sydney-based team.
Sam Willis has joined BTIG as a senior trader on the institutional sales desk.
Willis brings to the table over 10 years of experience working in Asia-Pacific and United Kingdom markets.
He was previously MF Global head of equity sales and trading and has also held senior positions at JP Morgan and Deutsche Bank.
"Sam's appointment marks BTIG Australia's third new hire in recent months as we continue to expand our business in Australia as well as globally," BTIG Australia chief executive Paul Brech said.
"Sam's extensive market experience and strong client relationships will be key to our expansion efforts across the Asia-Pacific region."
BTIG appointed Leo Borovilas and Andrew Best to senior trader positions on the institutional sales desk on 6 December last year.
The firm said it expected business growth as a result of interest in its outsource trading solutions, which complemented the institutional trading desks by offering professional trading services to smaller funds.
"Our outsource service in particular is resonating with firms who are looking at more flexible trading solutions without the cost of having to build out a dedicated in-house trading desk," Brech said.
