Ben Daly has been appointed a key account manager with Goldman Sachs Asset Management's (GSAM's) team for New South Wales and Queensland.

Mr Daly will work in the third party distribution team, which liaises with financial planners and platform providers.

Previously he was an investment specialist for RARE Infrastructure Ltd.

Mr Daly has also held roles at Deutsche Asset Management, Zurich Financial Services and BT Funds Management, as well as enjoying an eight-year professional rugby career in the UK and Europe.

This is the third senior hire to the team in the past few months, with Nick Green also joining as a key account manager and Andrew Stadelmann joining as a product specialist. Both are based in Melbourne.

GSAM's third party distribution capacity has been expanding ever since Jessica Jones was brought on to lead the team nine months ago.

Ms Jones previously worked for GSAM in the Nordic region and is now leading the Asia Pacific ex-Japan third party team.

“I recently relocated to Australia with the mandate to head up the business here, but also to build up the team. In that period, we have doubled the size of the team and Ben Daly is the most recent hire,” Ms Jones told InvestorWeekly.

The expansion of the third party distribution team represents a push by Goldman Sachs to penetrate the retail market beyond the major financial hubs.

“We recognise that if we want to be relevant and to show commitment to the Australian retail market, we do need to have more relationship managers covering more than just central locations like Sydney and Melbourne,” Ms Jones said.

“We are committed to Australia and we are committed to building our retail offering and platform here.”
