The Bank of Queensland (BOQ) board of directors has announced former ANZ group managing director Roger Davis as the bank’s new chairman, following the retirement of incumbent Neil Summerson.

In a statement to the Australian Securities Exchange, Mr Summerson praised his successor and reflected on his own tenure in the role.

“I am proud to have been part of the BOQ growth story over the past 16 years,” he said. “In that time, BOQ has grown its asset base from $2 billion to just over $40 billion, increased its market capitalisation tenfold to $3 billion and significantly expanded its operations.

“I would like to congratulate Roger on his appointment and, based on his contribution to the board to date, I know he will do an outstanding job,” he added.

He is a former Rhodes Scholar.
