The Financial Services Council (FSC) has appointed the heads of BT Financial Group and Aberdeen Asset Management Australia to its board.

BTFG chief executive Brad Cooper will be a co-deputy chairman alongside AMP Financial Services managing director Craig Meller. Mr Cooper replaces Schroder Investment Management chief executive Greg Cooper, who has taken over as FSC chair from retiring Macquarie Group head of banking and financial services, Peter Maher.

Brad Cooper has been a director on the FSC board since 2010 and co-chair of the FSC’s Superannuation Board Committee, the FSC stated.

In his new role, Brad Cooper will also be a deputy chairman of the FSC Administration & Risk Board Committee and FSC Nominations Board Committee.

Aberdeen managing director Brett Jollie has been appointed to the FSC board.

“Brett brings extensive Australian and international experience in the funds management industry to the FSC board,” Greg Cooper said.

“He will be part of a critical stage in the growth of Australia’s financial services industry, as it expands from $2 trillion today, to $3 trillion by 2020.”
