Heather Brilliant and Mark Roomans have been appointed as co-chief executives of Morningstar Australasia, replacing the current chief executive Anthony Serhan.

Mr Serhan will assume the role of managing director of research strategy, Asia-Pacific for Morningstar’s global research group, effective April 1.

He will be responsible for the research and analysis of Asia-Pacific securities markets, economic and financial trends and investment themes.

He has served as chief executive of Morningstar Australasia since 2010 and was previously managing director of Ibbotson Associates Australia.

Morningstar chief executive Joe Mansueto said he was pleased to appoint Mr Serhan to this new and key position.

“His knowledge and experience developing and managing research products and services will be a tremendous asset as we expand our research thought leadership for investors in the Asia-Pacific region," he said.

Ms Brilliant currently leads Morningstar’s global equity and corporate credit research teams.

She first joined Morningstar 10 years ago and previously spent several years as an equity research analyst at various boutique management firms.

Mr Roomans will continue to perform the role of chief operating officer of Morningstar Europe alongside his new role of co-chief executive of Morningstar Australasia.

He first joined Morningstar 13 years ago, after working for JP Morgan Investment Management and Merrill Lynch Investment Management.

Mr Mansueto said Ms Brilliant and Mr Roomans have expertise in driving business strategy and in leading teams.

"Heather has led our equity and credit analyst team for the last few years, managing more than 100 analysts across five offices around the world, including our Australian analysts,” said Mr Mansueto.

“She's a strong investor advocate and an outstanding leader,” he added.

“Mark has experience with nearly all of our global markets through various roles during his tenure."
