ANZ appoints insto head of global banking

ANZ has appointed Sameer Sawhney as head of global banking, international and institutional banking.

Mr Sawhney’s responsibilities will include providing global clients with complex cross-border banking and capital markets services, as well as access to industry expertise to help grow their business. 

Mr Sawhney is currently managing director of global transaction banking. 

Since joining ANZ in 2008, Mr Sawhney has held senior roles in institutional banking with coverage across Asia Pacific, Europe & America.

He has also previously worked for Standard Chartered Bank in various wholesale banking roles. 

ANZ chief executive Andrew Géczy said Mr Sawhney’s extensive experience will be an asset to the business as ANZ works towards building the most respected bank in the region. 

“Sameer is a highly experienced executive who has led both coverage and product teams across our key geographies, gaining the depth of relevant global banking experience needed to deliver the right services to our customers,” Mr Géczy said.
