Paul Costello has been appointed as a director on the Qantas Super board, replacing General Sir Peter Cosgrove who stepped down last January to become Australia’s Governor General.

Mr Costello is currently a non-executive director of AIA Australia and member of the RBA Payment System board.

He was also the inaugural managing director of the Future Fund, chief executive of the New Zealand Superannuation Fund, chief executive of the Superannuation Trust of Australia and chairman of the Blackstone Group in Australia and New Zealand.

Qantas Super chairman Anne Ward said Mr Costello will bring extensive experience in financial services, particularly superannuation, to the board.

“Paul brings a wealth of experience in investments, governance, operations and superannuation policy to Qantas Super,” said Ms Ward.

“Paul’s insights and acumen will be particularly valuable as we continue to navigate ongoing changes in the superannuation industry while focusing on delivering strong and positive outcomes for our members,” she said.
