Local Government Super has announced that two additional members have been appointed to its investment committee.

Edgehaven Pty Ltd principal Bev Durston and API Capital executive Robert Swift will take up the newly created roles, according to a statement from LGS.

As part of the committee, Ms Durston and Mr Swift will assist with monitoring the performance of LGS’ investment managers and overseeing the work of the internal investment team and external asset consultant, the statement said.

LGS CEO Peter Lambert said the new members would contribute valuable skills to the committee.

“The LGS board has committed to ensuring that it has sufficient skills to meet the challenges of an ever complex and growing industry,” he said.

“We welcome Bev and Robert and have every expectation that they will leverage their significant experience in investment management to build on the strong expertise of the LGS Investment Committee in a manner that will benefit our members.”

According to the statement, Ms Durston has extensive experience in the superannuation industry and has invested on behalf of superannuation and sovereign wealth funds in Australia and overseas.

Meanwhile, Mr Swift joins the committee from API Capital and has previously worked as head of BT Investment Management’s multi-strategies team, the statement said.
