Nikko AM has appointed Naoki Kamiyama as its new chief strategist, a role in which, the asset manager said, he will cover a wide range of asset classes to institutional and retail clients.
In announcing Mr Kamiyama’s appointment, Nikko AM also added he will sit as a member of its Global Investment Committee.
Previously, Mr Kamiyama had worked for Nikko AM and its predecessor firms until leaving in 2000.
Prior to re-joining Nikko AM, Mr Kamiyama worked for Merrill Lynch Japan Securities as chief strategist as well as Goldman Sachs, Morgan Standley and Deutsche Securities.
Nikko AM executive vice chairman Hideo Abe said Mr Kamiyama’s appointment will be “instrumental” to assisting the needs of the company’s clients in the current “volatile environment”.
"We are pleased to have [Mr Kamiyama] join Nikko Asset Management and add depth to our research and investment capabilities and share insights to our clients," Mr Abe said.
