In a statement to the ASX today, Challenger announced that Mr Saines – former group executive, institutional banking and markets at CBA – will take up the role from 2 March.
Current CEO, funds management, Rob Woods will be appointed to the newly created role of chief executive, group strategy.
“The industry, policy and demographic tailwinds propelling Challenger’s growth are set to strengthen this year, making it an opportune time to advance Rob’s desire to focus on a dedicated strategy role,” said Challenger CEO Brian Benari.
“This has created the opportunity to welcome a new senior executive to the leadership team and I am delighted that Ian is joining us.”
