Jonathan Whiteoak, who has over 15 years’ research experience in Australian and Asian global equities, has been appointed as senior quantitative analyst.
Plato founder and managing director Dr Don Hamson said: “Jonathan significantly enhances our research capability and his hiring demonstrates our strong commitment to proprietary research and innovation.”
“A number of our team previously worked with Jonathan at SSgA and we look forward to working with him again,” said Dr Hamson.
Dr Whiteoak will be responsible for driving research into quantitative stock selection models, alpha generation and portfolio construction, a Plato-issued statement said.
Dr Whiteoak noted his confidence in the company’s progress over recent years.
“[I am] extremely pleased to have the opportunity to join the firm at this exciting stage in its development.
“As a researcher I’m really looking forward to working in Plato’s boutique environment,” said Dr Whiteoak.
