A statement from APRA said current chief financial officer Steve Matthews has been appointed to the role where he will be responsible for overseeing the management of the regulator’s corporate support functions.
Prior to joining APRA, Mr Matthews held a number of senior roles within the New South Wales Department of Human Services and various financial sector companies.
The prudential regulator also said it has made changes to four of its current executive general managers.
“Brandon Khoo will replace Keith Chapman as executive general manager, diversified institutions, and Mr Chapman will replace Mr Khoo as executive general manager, specialised institutions. These changes will take effect from 1 April 2015,” a statement from APRA said.
“[Also] Charles Littrell, currently executive general manager, policy, statistics and international, will replace Sarah Goodman, executive general manager, supervisory support.”
“Ms Goodman will become executive general manager, policy and advice. These changes will take effect from 1 July 2015,” the statement said.
APRA chairman Wayne Byres said the changes the regulator has made to its senior leadership “reflect an ongoing commitment” to review and refresh its operations.
“[It also ensures] the organisation remains focused on effectively and efficiently achieving its mission for the wellbeing of the Australian community,” Mr Byres said.
