Phil Gallagher – former Federal Treasury director of the retirement income modelling taskforce – has joined Industry Super Australia as a specialist retirement policy adviser.
At ISA, Mr Gallagher will concentrate on the adequacy, fairness and cost-effectiveness of retirement income policies for industry fund members.
In his role with the Treasury, Mr Gallagher conceptualised the demographic and social expenditure impacts for the first three Intergenerational Reports (2002, 2007, and 2010).
Mr Gallagher also contributed to Budget updates including the Mid-year Economic and Fiscal Outlook and the Pre-Election Economic and Fiscal Outlook until 2013.
In 2004, Mr Gallagher was awarded the Public Service Medal by the governor-general for his work in statistical modelling of retirement incomes and population ageing.
Mr Gallagher has overseen Commonwealth social and economic policies since 1975.
