The Perth Mint names new CEO

Gold Corporation, the operator of the Perth Mint, has appointed a new chief executive officer.

Richard Hayes has been named as chief executive of the Perth Mint.

Mr Hayes was promoted from his position as executive director, which he held since 2003.

Gold Corporation acting chairman Ray Bennett said: “The board is confident that Mr Hayes will lead The Perth Mint in a manner which will ensure its standing as one of the world’s most prestigious refining and minting organisations.”

Mr Hayes has also held senior management positions with precious metals refining operations Australian Gold Refineries (AGR) Matthey and Golden West Refining Corporation Limited.

Mr Hayes will succeed Ed Harbuz who has been with the company for over 10 years.

Commenting on the succession, Mr Hayes said: “Mr Harbuz retires from his position at The Perth Mint with an incredible legacy.”

In addition to Mr Hayes, Donald Mackay-Coghill has been appointed as chairman, effective from 1 July 2015.
