Sydney-based global investment firm Atrium Investment Management has appointed former Colonial First State (CFS) chief executive Chris Cuffe as chairman.

According to Atrium, Mr Cuffe has been involved with the firm since 2012.

“I have a high regard for the Atrium team which has done an extraordinary job managing the risk and return side of the investment equation throughout market cycles,” Mr Cuffe said.

“I am impressed by the Atrium investment process and the outcomes they have been able to achieve. It is exciting to help steer a dynamic and capable business on its path of investment excellence.”

Mr Cuffe has held a raft of positions within the financial services industry, including holding the top job of CFS and Challenger.

As well as his position as chairman of Atrium, Mr Cuffe also is the chairman of UniSuper and is the chairman and founder of Australian Philanthropic Services.

He is also a non-executive director of non-institutionally aligned wealth management and advice firm Fitzpatricks Private Wealth.

Commenting on the appointment, Atrium chief executive Alex Hone said the firm was “delighted to welcome” Mr Cuffe to the board.

“His guidance and leadership of the Atrium board will no doubt translate into strong practical advice as Atrium takes further steps towards broadening its unique offer to more Australian investors and their advisers,” he said.
