Ms Brake makes the move to Willis Towers Watson from NZ Super, where she spent seven years looking after the fund's long-term investment strategy as well as the design of the investment portfolio.
"Sue has over 20 years of extensive investment experience," said Willis Towers Watson director of investments for Australia Martin Goss.
"We are looking forward to the value she will be able to provide to our clients, especially her insights on organisational design and governance, which remain high on the agenda for institutional investors.”
In her two decades in the financial services industry, Ms Brake has worked with a number of organisations including NAB, where she was the head of capital markets, and Bank of New Zealand, where she served as the head of capital and risk management for the bank's wholesale business.
Ms Brake commenced in her role on 17 November 2016, and said she looked forward to her new responsibilities.
“I am very excited to become involved in investment governance and strategy in Australia. It is a big market with unique issues,” she said.
