Boutique fund manager Avenir Capital has appointed a former Platinum Asset Management investment analyst to the role of investment director.

Curtis Cifuentes steps into the position at Avenir Capital following 15 years as an investment analyst at Platinum, where he managed a $25 million sub-portfolio covering Japan and technology sectors.

Prior to his time at Platinum, Mr Cifuentes was at Tokyo-based private equity firm Symphony Financial Partners (formerly Compass Partners) for three years.

Avenir Capital managing director and chief investment officer Adrian Warner said Mr Cifuentes would play a “central role” in Avenir’s growth.

“Curtis’ wealth of investment experience in Australia and Japan is a welcome addition to the Avenir team as we continue to seek global opportunities for our concentrated portfolio and build on our seven-year record of high performance,” Mr Warner said.

This is the second recent addition to the Avenir Capital global investment team after Avenir Capital hired an investment associate in September 2017.
