Australian equities manager DNR Capital has added a new portfolio manager to its investment team.

Sam Twidale joins the equities manager after more than seven years based in London at Schroders where he held roles such as equity analyst and European fund manager, according to a statement by DNR Capital.

Prior to that, he was an equity research analyst at Citi from 2007 to 2010, also based in London, and worked as a senior consultant in the advisory division of PwC in Brisbane before that.

In his new position, he will develop “a new investment strategy and product in the emerging companies space,” the statement said.

DNR Capital chief executive Robert White said the new product would launch “later in 2018”.

Commenting on the appointment, DNR Capital chief investment officer Jamie Nicol said Mr Twidale brought with him “a wealth” of both international and domestic experience in investment.

“This will help us to continue identifying quality domestic businesses with sustainable competitive advantages, especially those emerging local companies with the ability to grow into global franchises.”

Mr Twidale said he was excited to join the Australian equities manager.

“We see significant opportunities to add value in the smaller segment of the market, where we see a range of highly innovative and disruptive business models emerging in fast growing sectors such as technology, financials, consumer and healthcare,” Mr Twidale said.

Mr Twidale has already commenced in his position.
