T Rowe Price has announced in a statement it has hired former Macquarie buy-side equity analyst Chris Wu to the role of investment analyst.
During his time at Macquarie, he was part of the investment team for the High Conviction Fund (large cap) as well as the small cap fund, covering the areas of industrials, technology and real estate.
In the same statement, the firm announced that Ryan Martyn – who has held the role of investment analyst at the firm for seven years – had been promoted to head of research.
Both Mr Wu and Mr Martyn will report to head of Australian equities Randal Jenneke, who said investors wanted managers and analysts for their “ability to source alpha using a global lens, prudent and disciplined risk management and capacity to move quickly”.
“We are tremendously excited and optimistic about the value that our expanded team can bring to Australian investors as they navigate higher levels of volatility and the opportunities this presents,” Mr Jenneke said.
As at the end of March, T Rowe Price has US$1.01 trillion assets under management.
