In a statement, Alphinity said former Magellan Financial Group head of research and portfolio manager Nikki Thomas had joined the team.
Ms Thomas was at Magellan for 11 years and helped the company grow from its start-up stages to a firm that managed over $55 billion when she departed.
In the new role, Ms Thomas will manage the Alphinity Global Equity Fund alongside Jonas Palmqvist, Lachlan MacGregor and Jeff Thomson.
Mr Palmqvist said: “Ms Thomas, with her deep experience, analytical skills and sharp decision making ability is a terrific addition to our team and will help ensure we continue to build momentum after a strong year.”
Commenting on her own appointment, Ms Thomas said she was delighted to join Alphinity and said it was “the perfect next venture for me”.
“It is an experienced, dynamic team with a robust and proven investment process delivering excellent and consistent performance for its clients,” she said.
Challenger’s boutique funds management business Fidante Partners partially owns Alphinity Investment Management.
