AMP Capital has appointed a new chief operating officer and head of international strategy, and expanded the role of the managing director for office and industrial in its real estate leadership team.

AMP Capital announced in a statement yesterday that it had appointed Kylie O’Connor and Merran Edwards to the team, and enlarged Luke Briscoe's role.

Ms O’Connor steps into the position of chief operating officer for real estate from her previous role as fund manager for the AMP Capital Diversified Property fund.

Under the new title, she will assume responsibility for the real estate team’s finance, strategy, research, governance, risk and compliance, sustainability, business platforms, and corporate marketing and communications functions.

Meanwhile, Merran Edwards steps away from her former role as head of portfolio strategy at AMP Capital to take up the role of head of international strategy for real estate.

In this capacity, she will create new opportunities in significant markets and leverage key partnerships.

Mr Briscoe has held the position of managing director for office and industrial in the AMP Capital real estate team for 2.5 years, but his role has been expanded to now account for office and mixed-use development, according to the statement.

Commenting on the appointments and role expansion, AMP Capital global head of real estate Carmel Hourigan congratulated Ms O’Connor and Ms Edwards for their “unwavering focus and dedication to creating value for our clients”.

“I’m confident these changes support our continual focus on delivering outstanding investment experiences and our aspiration to maximise opportunities for our clients,” Ms Hourigan said.

“The changes align to our ambitious international and domestic growth strategy and also demonstrate the strong talent pipeline and succession planning of our people.”
