In a statement, Chi-X said Murrough O’Brien brought 16 years’ experience in financial services, electronic trading and market structure.
Mr O’Brien was head of Australia at Liquidnet from 2017 to 2018 and before that was director and head of Australia and New Zealand at TradingScreen.
During 2006 to 2015, he was at Citi as an electronic trading client relationship manager and then head of electronic trading, Australia and New Zealand.
Chi-X Australia chief executive officer Vic Jokovic commented: “Murrough’s wealth of experience in trading technology makes him a valuable addition to the Chi-X Australia team.
“We expect that his deep relationships with institutional brokers and fund managers will be integral to further increasing our market share of cash equity trading, and in the distribution of new and innovative financial products.”
