Lonsec Research names executive director

Lonsec Research has promoted its head of manager research Libby Newman to the position of executive director.

In a statement, the research house said Ms Newman’s new role would see her lead the Lonsec Research team’s 40 investment analysts and consultants.

Ms Newman joined Lonsec Research in 2007 where held the role of senior investment analyst for over eight years.

From 2015 she became general manager, income and multi asset, and then in February stepped into the head of manager research position.

Ms Newman has also served as a member of Lonsec’s investment committee and its manager selection committee.

Before joining Lonsec Research, she has worked at Suncorp, Mellon Bank, Abbey National, DST Global Solutions and Artesian Capital Management in various accountant, analyst and portfolio manager roles across Brisbane, London and Melbourne and has gained experience in fixed income, operations, investment performance systems and risk management.

Lonsec chief executive Charlie Haynes said the company was “very excited” to announce Ms Newman as Lonsec Research’s executive director.

“Libby has developed an intimate understanding of the research needs of financial advisers and is widely respected throughout the industry for her sheer depth of investment product knowledge.”

Commenting on her own appointment, Ms Newman said: “The quality of our investment research forms the basis of everything we do at Lonsec.

“We are continually evolving our tools to meet the new challenges and opportunities within the financial services industry, and I am excited to be playing a part in that.”
